Local–global property for G-invariant terms

چکیده

For some Maltsev conditions [Formula: see text] it is enough to check if a finite algebra satisfies locally on subsets of bounded size in order decide whether (globally). This local–global property the main known source tractability results for deciding conditions. In this paper, we investigate existence G-term, i.e. an text]-ary term that invariant under permuting its variables according permutation group text]. Our imply particular all cyclic loop (in sense Bodirsky, Starke, and Vucaj) have (and thus can be decided polynomial time), while symmetric terms arity fail it.

Perturbation bounds for $g$-inverses with respect to the unitarily invariant norm

Let complex matrices $A$ and $B$ have the same sizes. Using the singular value decomposition, we characterize the $g$-inverse $B^{(1)}$ of $B$ such that the distance between a given $g$-inverse of $A$ and the set of all $g$-inverses of the matrix $B$ reaches minimum under the unitarily invariant norm. With this result, we derive additive and multiplicative perturbation bounds of the nearest per...

Property Checking Without Invariant Generation

We introduce ProveProp , a procedure for proving safety properties. ProveProp is based on a technique called Partial Quantifier Elimination (PQE). In contrast to complete quantifier elimination, in PQE, only a part of the formula is taken out of the scope of quantifiers. So PQE can be dramatically more efficient than complete quantifier elimination. The appeal of ProveProp is twofold. First, it...

G-invariant Persistent Homology

Classical persistent homology is a powerful mathematical tool for shape comparison. Unfortunately, it is not tailored to study the action of transformation groups that are different from the group Homeo(X) of all self-homeomorphisms of a topological space X. This fact restricts its use in applications. In order to obtain better lower bounds for the natural pseudo-distance dG associated with a g...

The Amalgamation Property for G-metric Spaces

Let G be a (totally) ordered (abelian) group. A Gmetric space (X, p) consists of a nonempty set A"and a G-metric />: XxX->-G (satisfying the usual axioms of a metric, with G replacing the ordered group of real numbers). That the amalgamation property holds for the class of all metric spaces is attributed, by Morley and Vaught, to Sierpiñski. The following theorem is proved. Theorem. The class o...

Mass Terms and Plurals in Property Theory∗

This paper is concerned with representing the semantics of natural language (NL) plurals and mass terms in Property Theory (PT): a weak firstorder theory of Truth, Propositions and Properties with fine-grained intensionality Turner, 1990; Turner, 1992; Aczel, 1980. The theory allows apparently coreferring items to corefer without inconsistency. This is achieved by using property modifiers which...
